Study Visit

23-30 October 2007 / Vienna

The Local Agenda 21 project partners - representatives of the local authorities - completed a study visit to Austria, one of the Member States of the European Union and a beneficiary of the Structural Funds.

Following the training session on "Developing capacity for applying and implementing projects financed by EU structural funds at county, city or village level" (Alba Iulia, 16-20 July 2007), when the participants gained the theoretical knowledge of Structural Funds necessary for writing EU projects, the "formation component" of the project was completed with the study tour to the Vienna City Hall.

The aim of this visit was to offer a practical view of the knowledge accumulated in the training. Thus, the participants had the chance to familiarize with models of accessing EU funds given by public and private organizations in Austria.

The main Austrian partners in organizing the visit were the Local Agenda 21 Association Vienna (representative – Ms. Andrea Binder Zehetner) and the City Hall of Vienna through the Press and Information Service (representative – Ms. Michaela Moser), as well as the representation offices in Vienna (COMPRESS Vienna – representative – Ms. Barbara Kulmer) and Bucharest (COMPRESS Bucharest – representative – Ms. Ondine Dascalita).

The presentations included topics such as:

- Project Models – Local Agenda 21 in Austria

- Developing Projects – making use of the EU Structural Funds

- District Management – local management of the POSEIDON project

- WAFF – Viennese Funds for employee promotion, and were followed by open discussions and questions.
